Customer Reviews

I purchased a pair of those audio system at Goodwill for $10 and hooked them up to a really cheap Emerson radio/cd player. I've never heard my Houston radio sound so good. Identical with my CDs. What I thought was a crummy low-cost radio is now an superior player. Would recommend to everybody I know. Despite the fact that they are "outdated" and aren't made anymore, they work higher than most other audio system in $a hundred and fifty or much less price range. Do not let the age persuade you other wise. Go together with this set. They are going to change your life.

A2 Premium Powered Desktop Speakers (Black)

These audio system aren't cheap. Nor are they in a position to face up to physical abuse. I've seen other computer audio system you may bounce on the floor and be fine. Not these. There's a cause why they arrive superbly packaged in Styrofoam and cloth bags. Any shaking or accidental push on the front speaker mesh and you might get that distorted hum/rattling sound different reviewers have mentioned. As well as, Audioengine claims all cables are included. Technically speaking, they're correct. They do include two brief, flimsy, poor high quality cables (neither of them with the stereo RCA jack). One worked okay, but the different gave me a loud hum until I received it simply so. Given the price of the audio system, it will have been nice to have one thing better. I ended up changing them rapidly with a top quality HOSA cable, and will hear the difference.

I must also say that the size of these speakers is NOT what Amazon lists (they say 1.5 x 1.1 x 0.8 inches). Wrong. They're actually four 1/eight inches large by 6 1/8 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches deep. I was expecting somewhat cube kind speaker. They're not that small.

Given all the pieces I've mentioned, you would possibly marvel why the 5 stars. Once they're treated with care and delicacy and stored secure (I don't absolutely belief the speaker stands that they promote for these speakers), the sound is amazing. There are loads of professional web site reviewers who had been wowed by them, and I can see why. Their glowing comments were right. I hooked it to a Artistic X-Fi card in a small computer room to switch a 4.1 Klipsch system. Despite the dearth of a separate sub-woofer (which you should buy for those who're loaded with cash), music is wealthy and full. The truth is, it is so good, that you'll soon understand how diversified the recording high quality is for various sources of music. Some CDs could sound flat or tinny, others wonderful. The fault isn't with the audio system however the authentic source.

It's at all times vital to acknowledge what something is or isn't. Audiengine A2 is not as good as a excessive end dedicated house theater system with a sub-woofer. For that, you want something else. Nor can you play football with it, so when you have rowdy animals or children, you might need to go along with something that may better deal with abuse. But what it does do is provide you with nice sound from a computer, particularly in the event you upgrade your cable and have an excellent sound card, which helps you to regulate the bass and treble to fit your taste. They take up rather a lot much less space than a 7.1, 5.1, or 4.1 laptop speaker system and have sound that's onerous to beat.

Paradigm Atom Monitor v.6 Bookshelf Speakers (Black Ash)

I purchased mine (black ash coloration) by STO sound and Imaginative and prescient (an amazon retailer and Paradigm authorized retailer), however obtained them on the precise brick and mortar store convieniently located lower than 10 miles from me.

After doing alot of analysis on audio system in this price range ($200-350 per pair), I kept hearing nice things about the Paradigm Atom speakers (V6 mannequin). I at present run four of those in a 4.zero configuration (no sub but, though I do have a 5th atom, I simply have not hooked it up attributable to space constraints).

Whether or not you run 2, 4, or extra of those atom speakers, the sounds is phenominal, and I've found that after about 50 hours of break-in they sound even better.

The highs and mids are crisp, clear, and actually travel well. The bass response vary is limited because of the measurement of those speakers, however bass has a surprisingly nice presence. Bass drums are available in nice and tight. I would read a technical evaluate if you're an audiophile looking for more in depth information, however for me I can clearly hear extra detail when listening to these audio system than on any set I've listened to beforehand that is across the similar size. Consider, the sound EQ could be very flat, so you'll need an equilizer if you want exagerated bass/mid/trebel combinations. I can blast these audio system with no distorion to ranges I would not even feel comfortable listening to in a 12'x16' sized room. A bigger room would probably be better suited for the following Paradigm mannequin up.

These audio system dont require a very large amount of energy, although without a subwoofer and high pass filter, I might in all probability reccomend an amplifier able to at the least 50W per channel as a max output.

I used to be beforehand using a micro component system capable of 30W max per channel, and I appeared to lose some excessive frequency music when heavy bass was present. Transferring to a Pioneer VSX-521 (80W per channel) has solved this concern, in addition to allowed me to make use of these atoms in a surround sound configuration.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a home theater on a finances, or even only for a easy 2.0/2.1 system.
